Equipment Back

I play a 1987 Larrivée L-09 guitar. The guitar is strung with Martin SP medium gauge Phosphor Bronze strings.I change them often.

After decades of using finger picks I now use acrylic nails. I'm doing the acrylic nails thing on my 1st three fingers and thumb though I still use a thumb pick (a Herco Extra Heavy) on more aggresive songs.

I also have a Collings MT Blackface mandolin and a Joseph Yanuziello Hawaiian King Deluxe lap slide guitar. My guitars all have K&K pick ups and mics which I run through a Raven Labs Master Blender on stage. I Haven't decided yet what I'm going to put in the mandolin.

A while ago I found what I think to be the best capo ever made. It's called the Victor Capot and was hand made in Florida. It's now been bought out by the Dunlop corporation.

I love my L-09 but it was a replacement guitar. In 1987 I had my Grit Laskin stolen from the basement of a church at St. Clair and Yonge Street in Toronto on a Sunday afternoon, from what we thought was a locked room. I never did get it back. Unfortunately over the years I've lost the serial number. It has a small chunk taken out of the left side of the headstock. It would be about an 1984 or '85. I still miss it. I just hope the bastard who stole it got arthritis in his hands.

I get all my guitar work done at the Twelfth Fret guitar store in Toronto. It's a bit of a drive for me, but they do great work and are wonderful to deal with.
